intu Milton Keynes Green Gym is a huge success

Posted 30th January 2018

This week the intu Milton Keynes Green Gym volunteers were out around the city creating hedgehog houses for the prickly residents of Milton Keynes, as part of their weekly mission to get people exercising whilst out and about!

Last year, the intu Milton Keynes Green Gym was launched in partnership with the shopping centre, intu Milton Keynes, and the Milton Keynes Council which has lead to dozens of volunteers giving up their time to take part.

TCV, the community volunteering charity, have worked with intu for ten years to restore and enhance green spaces up and down the country through the Green Gym initiatives. The programme offers volunteers the chance to take part in practical nature conservation sessions whilst also improving their health and wellbeing.

Emma Eteen, the Project Officer for the intu Milton Keynes Green Gym, has arranged some fantastic events so far which the community have loved getting involved with. This includes planting bulbs in public gardens and outdoor spaces around the city centre, planting flowers which will ensure the bee population thrives this spring, as well as clearing outdoor spaces so they can be enjoyed by members of the public.

Kirsty McGiff, intu Milton Keynes marketing manager said, “The Green Gym has been a huge success so far and thank you to Emma and all those involved who have been pushing the programme. Also, a huge thank you to all volunteers who have given up their time to make the outdoor spaces of Milton Keynes even more beautiful for people to enjoy.”
