Hong Kong Philanthropist makes £5m gift to The University of Buckingham
Hong Kong Philanthropist Dr Hon Dak Chung, has donated £5m to the University to help build a new Law School. The gift will provide a new home for Law students from 2022. The gift was announced by Chair of Council, Rory Tapner, at a reception hosted by John Simon Bercow MP, Speaker and Parliamentary MP for Buckingham, on Tuesday 4 June. The gift is part of the campaign for a Law School for the 21st Century and is one of the main pillars of the University's ‘50 for 50’ campaign, aiming to raise £50m before the 50th anniversary of The University of Buckingham in May 2026. The donation also aims to build and strengthen the links between Britain and China. Record numbers run in the Rightmove MK Marathon Weekend 2019
Congratulations to everyone who took part! It was a record-breaking weekend for the Rightmove MK Marathon Weekend 2019, with more people than ever running, and the biggest crowds the event has ever seen! The whole weekend was a roaring success, with 10,000 runners coming from far and wide to take part in one (or more) of the five races across Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May. Vote for MK Playday to secure Tesco Bags of Help Grant
MK Playday have been successfully shortlisted in applying for the Tesco Bags of Help Grant Scheme. The MK Playday project will be put forward to a customer vote in Tesco stores during May and June 2019. Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awarded to local community projects. Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant. The Parks Trust acquires Campbell Wharf Marina
Campbell Wharf Marina, at Crest Nicholson’s Campbell Wharf development, has been acquired by The Parks Trust who will manage future operations at the Marina. The new 111 berth Marina will provide a destination for boaters and canal users in Milton Keynes, with direct access to the Grand Union Canal and additional services to be provided nearby as part of the wider Campbell Wharf development. Green-fingered gardeners are in luck as the centre starts offering free bags of coffee ‘waste’ for use as a natural garden fertiliser. Willen Hospice bags support from Tesco’s community grant scheme
Willen Hospice is calling on Tesco shoppers to support its involvement in the ‘Bags of Help’ community grant scheme, running across stores until the end of April 2019. The Hospice applied for the funding to provide transport for its patients to and from the Wellbeing Centre each week. Tesco customers now have the opportunity to vote for Willen Hospice to receive funding, by placing a blue token into the voting box each time they shop. As part of CityFibre’s ‘fibre to the premises’ project, the network has doubled to over 350km since March 2018.
